Business Updates

On Tuesday I was lucky to meet with Ruthie Allen, a photographer based in Northwest Arkansas.  We spent 2 hours at Starbucks (and probably could have gone for much longer!) talking about life and photography.  I loved listening to Ruthie’s stories : how she got started taking pictures, her travels, and how she met her husband.  Making a new friend made me feel all bubbly inside!

I’ll be up bright & early tomorrow shooting a family session.  My camera bag is packed and ready by the door – I am so excited!

I hope your weekend is cozy and mellow… and that you have lots of leftovers to enjoy (namely, pie!)

A Trip to Lincoln City

Happy Friday!  I wanted to post a few pictures from our trip to Lincoln City, OR last week.  Our favorite place to stay is the Starfish Manor.  Once we got there, we put on our warm running clothes (layers, no cotton!) and raced the sunset to Cascade Head Hike.  The view from up there was beautiful!  Next time, I would love to go up there on a clear day to watch the sunset.  We met a really cute dog names Tootsie while we were up there, too.  After a few minutes chatting with her owner, we ran back to the car through muddy trails and almost darkness.  We were so eager to get dinner at Mo’s for dinner that we went in our running stuff… good thing it’s casual like that!

When you visit, you must have breakfast next door at MIST (try the crab benedict & coffee).  The drive back was beautiful, too… so many beautiful orchards that I could just dream of taking pictures in.  Zac sensibly reminded me that they were all probably private property, but the cold rain was probably a more effective deterrent.  Yay for an outdoorsy and romantic overnight in Lincoln City!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you all had a very happy Thanksgiving!  There are many people and things that we are so darn lucky to have in our lives.  I am thankful for :

1. The most kind and loving family I could ever dream of.
2. A warm bed, including my pancake pillow.
3. Oatmeal with brown sugar and milk & coffee in the mornings.
4. Fresh flowers, especially dahlias, peonies, and ranunculus.

5. A body that takes me places and that I am gifted with taking care of.
6. Something to be excited for – dreams, the future.
7. Trusty favorite recipes & new ones waiting to be made.
8. Any time I spend with Zachary – runs, days at home, car trips, meals, everything!

9. Old & new friends!
10. Burgerville after a long run.
11. Getting magazines in the mail.
12. Being able to take trips.

What are some of yours?

I just wanted to share with you this lovey photo taken by Amy Nieto.  The three of us went out for a birthday treat last week (now I’m 25!) and a rainy walk at Mt. Tabor.   Perfect!

Amy + Portland Photo Walk

Last Friday I spent the day with my wonderful friend Amy.  She showed me her new apartment and her Mami made us lunch (pasta & garlic bread).  After lunch, we set off on a photo adventure with a mission :  cupcakes!  I have been writing about those frosting topped nuggets of goodness a lot lately… but you should also know that I did start exercising again!  The “I’m recovering from the marathon” excuse expires about two weeks after the race, so I had to get on it!  I’m at 7 workouts in 9 days – not bad, right?

It is so nice walking with a friend who gets equally excited over the possibility of beautiful pictures and simple details!  Amy has many awesome talents : she owns two businesses – Amy Nieto Photography & Little Bright Studio, and can read the minds of cute cats everywhere (more on that below!).

In September, over a fine Pok Pok lunch, we discussed about our goals for the fall.  Amy was working on getting Little Bright Studio up & running, and I was dreaming of starting Linnea Paulina Photography.  We both set November 1st as our launch date.  That way we would have the whole month of October to get to work!  We celebrated milestones and swapped encouragement along the way.  Knowing that Amy was working on her project 2,000-something miles away was so motivating to me.

So… the cute little paw up there belongs to Fashion Kitty!  She was hanging around Portland after getting back from Paris.  How do I know this?  Fashion Kitty told me so!  Amy can channel whatever cats are thinking and narrate their actions.  No, it’s not creepy… psh!  It’s hilarious!  Yup!  Oh, and our walk did have a happy ending – after window shopping, animal whispering, and photo taking, we got our cupcakes.  Yay!

Happy Friday, friends!
